MASTERING ENGINEER - Kent Poon

Widely regarded as one of the top Asia audiophile producers and engineers, Kent started his research about audio production in North America since the year of 1993. He worked with wide range for music mastering productions; from classical, jazz, hip hop, electronic, country to dance; from pop artist Jay Chow to French Canadian Jazz singer Marcia.

Between the time period of 1993 to 1996, Kent handled over hundred of live classical and jazz concerts each year. This enabled a strong and solid background of audio engineering and inspiration of sound production.  

In the year of 1996, Kent joined Mastering industry (Toronto, Canada) and partnership with large records companies to develop advanced high fidelity recording. This includes SACD, DVD-Audio, multi-channel surround etc. Meanwhile, Kent was an university music specialist and worked actively in professional audio equipment R&D.

Within this period of time, Kent met with the legendary Hong Kong audiophile Leo Fung and joined the chinese high-end audio circle. He started writing technical review articles as an oversea senior contributing editor. Throughout the years, his articles are posted on a number of well-known local audio magazines such as "Audiophile by YK Chan", "Journey to Sound", "Yohifi.com" and “HiFi Review". 

During his time in Canada, Kent has already started working with some of the best audiophile records labels and engineers for Mastering and restoration projects. Including "After 6", Roman Tam "Love with Russia".

Kent moved back to Hong Kong since 2003 and the first series of productions, "Audiophile Jazz Prologue" became a big hit in the Asia high-end audio market and has became the featured recording by well known US based high end audio manufacturer - PS Audio.

Besides record production, Kent also actively consults for professional and consumer audio product in the R&D area. In 1999, He co-designed Canadian Loudspeaker Focus Audio Multi-channel Series MT1/MC1, and in 2001 his second contribution on Focus Signature Series FS888.

He was also a technical consultant for one of the largest Asia consumer audio distributors, Radar Audio Company from 2003 to 2007. Kent is currently the in charge person on Asia Weiss Limited - Weiss Engineering Asia region head office. He involves from products R&D feedbacks including digital equalizer, AD/DA and DSP designs.

In the year of 1997, Kent became a full member of Audio Engineering Society (AES) full member. He is one of the youngest full AES members.
